Description
In this iteration of the work, the electroacoustic sculptures, Uróboros, built with found materials
and an acoustic feedback circuit were used as conversational instruments in a free music
concert with the guitar improviser Lautaro Mantilla. Through months of resonating with the Uróboros, the artist starts to understand the self-awareness of instruments through the instability of feedback systems as a consciousness.
The mythology of the amphisbaena inspired this performance—commonly found in pre-Columbian cultures around South America, the amphisbaena portrays the intricacy of contrasts. The being has
two heads with distinct consciousnesses but still share the same body; in this particular work, this happens through vibration. In this performance, the performer and the sculptures represent an amphisbaenic being interacting with itself and others.
